Heyda Provides Noise Impact Assessment for Condenser Unit
Hampstead Garden Suburb
Client: Private
Architect: XUL Architecture
Project Details
This project involved the refurbishment and remodelling of an existing three-storey residential dwelling in a suburban setting. The scope included internal restructuring, landscaping, relocation of an outbuilding, and the installation of new cooling systems, which incorporated an external VRF condenser unit within the garden. Situated in a quiet residential area, noise management was a key focus to ensure compliance with local regulations and minimise impact on nearby properties.

Heyda's Input
Heyda Acoustics delivered a comprehensive range of acoustic consultancy services, ensuring that the project met stringent noise impact standards. Key contributions included:
- Noise Survey and Assessment: Conducted a 96-hour environmental noise survey to establish baseline noise levels and assess potential impacts.
- BS 4142 Noise Impact Assessment: Evaluated the noise levels of the proposed external plant equipment, applying predictive modelling to confirm compliance with local authority criteria.
- Mitigation Strategies: Designed effective noise control measures, including recommendations for an acoustic enclosure for the VRF condenser unit to minimise noise emissions.
- Reporting: Provided a detailed Noise Impact Assessment Report for submission to the local planning authority, ensuring all requirements were met for planning approval.
Through Heyda’s expertise, the project achieved compliance with both national and local noise standards, safeguarding the acoustic comfort of the surrounding area
